E-books in Greece and their future at the libraries
To what degree are we accustomed to reading digitally? What is the state of the ebook market today in Greece and what is the future of ebooks? What role can libraries play in the age of e-books? A publisher, a writer, an ebookstore representative, a platform manager, a specialist in digital and a Google representative, coordinated by a famous ebooks blogger discuss their prospects of cooperation.
Nikos Paschalakis was born in Athens in 1963 and he graduated from the Faculty of Physics of the University of Crete in 1985. He is the co-founder of IT Quality & Reliability SA (Q&R), where, since 1992, he holds the position of Managing Director. Two years ago, he created Digibooks4all, as a subsidiary of Q&R, with a view to develop a software platform for the availability and operation of an e-bookstore. The platform is now available in bookstores worldwide. Recently, Nikos signed a contract with Cosmote for the creation and operation of the largest online e-bookstore in Greece, Cosmote Books. Today, Cosmote Books offers a purchasing platform with the most complete collection of digital books in Greece, as well as all printed books circulating in Greece by all publishers.
