Nikos Bakounakis is an Associate Professor of Journalism at Panteion University in Athens. He has studied law at the Law School of the University of Athens and History at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, from where he received his PhD in History and Civilizations. He is a cultural and literary editor-in-chief of the Sunday newspaper To Vima. His work includes several books on Greek history: primarily regarding the development of the bourgeoisie, its mentality, behaviour and the reception of artistic phenomena, ideas and journalism. Nikos Bakounakis is a journalist with the historian’s knowledge of where he is, and a historian with the journalist’s urge to be there.
